Singapore-based AET completes first bio-LNG bunker fuel trial on “Eagle Brasilia”

Trial was carried out on the dual fuel Aframax, which completed a bio-LNG bunkering operation in Rotterdam before a cross-European voyage.

Singapore-headquartered crude and product tankers owner AET on Monday (10 March) said it recently completed its first bio-LNG trial, marking a milestone in the company’s decarbonisation journey and a demonstration of its readiness for FuelEU Maritime compliance.

The trial was carried out on Eagle Brasilia, a dual fuel Aframax, which completed a bio-LNG bunkering operation in Rotterdam before a cross-European voyage.

The bio-LNG was consumed during the laden leg to meet FuelEU Maritime GHG intensity requirements, with the voyage successfully completed on 10 February.

“The results affirm the technical compatibility of Bio-LNG with our existing dual fuel systems and provide valuable operational insights to support our future fuel strategy,” the company said.
