Scandinavian LNG and natural gas supplier Barents NaturGass on Thursday (5 February) said it has commenced LNG bunkering for shipping company Havila Kystruten at the Port of Hammerfest, Norway.
“Our design for simultaneous two‑truck‑to‑ship bunkering received approval from DSB (Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection) last Friday. The first bunkering operation was uneventful — just as expected,” the company said in a social media post.
“Over the next few operations, we will focus on streamlining the process to reduce bunkering time and further improve procedures. Liquid methane is the bunker fuel of both the present and the future — whether it is LNG or LBG.”
Barents NaturGass did not provide information on the volume of LNG supplied and the vessels involved in the bunkering operation.
According to its website, the company has three dedicated LNG bunkering facilities in Hammerfest, Lødingen and Moskenes as of 2017.
The Hammerfest Facility is Europe’s largest dedicated LNG bunkering station with 1250 m3 storage and a pump capacity of 90 tonnes/hour.
