Yantian District Bureau of Industry and Information Technology on Wednesday (14 January) said China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) completed the first bonded LNG operation at an anchorage in Shenzhen.
The company supplied about 5,300 cubic metres (m3) of LNG to container ship MSC Gabriella at Shenzhen Dapeng Bay.
“This operation marks the first bonded LNG bunkering operation at the anchorage in Shenzhen, signifying the official establishment of Shenzhen as an international bonded LNG bunkering centre combining both anchorage and terminal, filling a gap in the anchorage bunkering field in the Shenzhen area,” the bureau said.
Given that there was no precedent for bunkering at anchorages in Shenzhen, CNOOC planned ahead and made arrangements to ensure the safe and smooth progress of this operation.
The company partnered with relevant departments such as the Shenzhen Maritime Safety Administration, Shenzhen Customs, Shenzhen General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection, and anchorage management unit.
“This successful launch of CNOOC’s anchorage bunkering service in Shenzhen complements the LNG bunkering services at Shenzhen Yantian Port Container Terminal, further improving Shenzhen’s comprehensive bonded LNG bunkering service system,” the bureau said.
The bureau added CNOOC’s anchorage bunkering operation will enhance the international competitiveness of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as a bunkering centre.
