Marine fuel supplier Fratelli Cosulich on Wednesday (4 February) said the launching ceremony of Anna Cosulich took place at the Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipyard in China.
Anna Cosulich is the first of four sister vessels in Cosulich Marine Energy’s new generation of methanol-ready IMO II bunker tankers, developed as part of the Group’s fleet expansion programme.
“Her launch represents a key milestone in strengthening the Group’s in-house capabilities and in supporting the maritime industry’s growing demand for alternative marine fuels,” the company said.
Shared with partners, stakeholders and the project team, the event celebrated the vessel’s transition from construction to her first encounter with the water — a symbolic step on the path towards operational readiness.
The ceremony was honoured by Giovanna Cibin, Managing Director of Express Global Hong Kong, who served as the Godmother of Anna Cosulich. With the traditional cutting of the ceremonial ribbon, it was officially released into the water.
Designed for safety and future fuel readiness, the vessel will be fitted with a MarineLINE® cargo tank coating. This solution ensures enhanced protection for demanding chemical cargoes, including methanol, while supporting safe, reliable and efficient bunkering operations in line with evolving regulatory and technical requirements.
“Conceived as a methanol-ready bunker tanker from the earliest design stages, Anna Cosulich has been engineered to facilitate a future transition to methanol operations,” the company added.
Manifold Times previously reported Fratelli Cosulich Group launching Maya Cosulich — the world’s first methanol-powered IMO II chemical bunker tanker — at Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipyard.
Upon her arrival and delivery to Singapore by the end of 2025, Maya Cosulich was scheduled to commence operations under time charter with TFG Marine, becoming the first methanol dual-fuel bunker tanker to operate in the Port of Singapore.
