Singapore: Pinnacle Marine’s first B100-fuelled utility boat completes 1,000-hour research trial

Powered by B100 biodiesel, the vessel operated by Prestige Ocean Pte Ltd, captured data on bunker fuel emissions, marine fuel behaviour, and performance in the trial which began in July 2025.

Local boat builder Pinnacle Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd on Sunday (11 January) said its first full biodiesel utility boat, President 100, completed a 1,000-hour sea trial.

Powered by B100 biodiesel, the vessel operated by Prestige Ocean Pte Ltd, captured data on bunker fuel emissions, marine fuel behaviour, and performance in the trial which began in July 2025

“Across 1,000 operational hours, the trial demonstrated that carbon neutral biofuels are not a distant ambition, but a viable and immediate solution for the maritime energy transition,” the company said in a social media post.

Wilmar International supplied the biodiesel that fuelled this journey and Gulf Marine provided the specialised lubricants essential to engine performance.

Weichai Singapore Pte Ltd engineered the biodiesel engine that powered the vessel while Maritime Energy & Sustainable Development Centre of Excellence (MESD) performed the research and will produce a report to provide critical empirical data to support industry-wide adoption.

The milestone event began with a presentation of the 1,000-hour research findings by Dr Ningrui Tang, followed by a ceremonial signing between the four lead partners.

“This signing represents more than the conclusion of a trial. It opens the door to a new era of Green Marine operations. We hope this project serves as a catalyst for others embarking on their own decarbonisation journeys,” the company added.
