The second “Zhoushan Ship Type” version 2.0 bunkering vessel on Wednesday (14 January) successfully completed its maiden bunkering operation at an anchorage outside Tiaozhoumen, according to Zhoushan Orient International Maritime Service.
Dong Fang Zhao Yang 2 supplied Panamanian-flagged bulk carrier Ocean Trinity with 1,600 metric tonnes (mt) of bonded low-sulphur marine fuel oil.
This marked the official commissioning of Dong Fang Zhao Yang 2, following the Dong Fang Zhao Yang, injecting another strong impetus into the construction of the global bonded marine fuel bunkering center.
According to the Information Office of Zhoushan Municipal People’s Government, the Dong Fang Zhao Yang delivered 263,000 mt of bonded marine fuel in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 16.4%.
The Dong Fang Zhao Yang 2 is a new-generation benchmark tanker custom-built for Zhejiang Free Trade Zone Orient Shipmate Maritime Service Co Ltd (OSMS), a joint venture of Zhoushan Communications Investment Group and Sinopec Fuel Oil Sales Co Ltd, designed to to meet the specific characteristics of the Zhoushan sea area.
The vessel is 88 metres long, has a cargo capacity of about 4,077 tonnes, and possesses strong performance capabilities for stable operation in wave heights of 1.5 to 1.7 metres.
