German firm GEFO’s Bunker Trading department secures ISCC certifications

Company achieved both certificates issued by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification System: ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS.

Hamburg-based family-owned GEFO Shipping Group recently said that its Bunker Trading department has been ISCC certified as of 22 January.

“We are proud to have achieved both certificates issued by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification System: ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS,” the company said in a social media post.

GEFO added the ISCC EU certificate proves compliance with EU requirements regarding sustainability and greenhouse gas reduction. ISCC PLUS has a broader scope and is valid worldwide.

The audit was carried out by  testing, inspection and certification company SGS.

“With this successful certification, we demonstrate once again our commitment to sustainability in shipping,” it said.
