Ningbo-Zhoushan Port on Monday (12 January) completed its first LNG bunkering operation for 2026 on 9 January, according to the Ningbo Area of China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

Bunkering vessel Hai Yang Shi You 302 successfully refuelled the container ship MSC Saudi Arabia with 8,981 cubic metres (m3) of LNG at the Ningbo Port Group Beilun Third Container Terminal in the Chuanshan Port Area.

The event also marked China National Offshore Oil Corporation’s (CNOOC) 100th international bonded LNG bunkering operation.

China-based media reported that the LNG bunkering volume at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port exceeded 250,000 cubic meters for the first time in 2025.

The Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration reportedly said it will continue to optimise its support measures, innovate its operational service models, improve its service performance and deepen its collaboration with Ningbo-Zhoushan Port and related units.

It added it will further improve the port, energy and shipping ecosystem, and make every effort to consolidate Ningbo-Zhoushan Port’s position as a national LNG bunkering hub, injecting strong momentum into the green transformation of the global shipping industry.
